Syrup

Syrup production for me just started this spring in 2015. One of the benefits of living in the country is that you are surrounded by lots of trees and some may perhaps be maple trees. At my parents’ house, there happens to be tonnes that are about 30 years old plus. And what’s the most Canadian thing besides making maple syrup? I took this hidden opportunity and attended a seminar led by a guy named Ken Fosty who was kind enough to explain everything about making syrup from tap to bottle. I then proceeded to buy 40 taps and all of the other equipment needed to get started. I may have been the one who organized all of this, but my dad, Mark, did most of the sap gathering and my mom, Tara,  did all of the boiling to actually make the syrup. I’ll have to help them out more this year now that I'm not in university anymore. I'm excited to see how everything turns out, stay tuned for more!
